To mark the one year anniversary of the full scale invasion of Ukraine, the Chorley & District community pulled together to ensure that the anniversary did not go unacknowledged. The Chorley Ukraine Community Group ‘Kalyna’ was supported by Chorley Council to hold a Remembrance Service on the Town Hall Square in Chorley Town Centre. Members of the Ukraine Community were joined by the Mayor of Chorley Cllr Julia Berry, local residents and members of community groups (including the Chorley & District Support for Ukraine group) to prayer for Ukraine, voice words of solidarity, sing and also observe a minute silence. The service was recorded by the local TV news from Granada Reports and was presented by Anna Youssef. Following the service, Anna also visited the ‘Ukraine Unit’ and the work of the dedicated team of volunteers made up part of her evening report.Over the course of the weekend, Chorley Town Hall was lit yellow in blue in support of Ukraine.
