What an incredibly proud day for everyone associated with the Chorley & District Support for Ukraine group!
On Saturday 12th August 2023, we were honoured to be visited by Bishop Komar from the Sambir-Drohobytska Diocese in Ukraine. After being escorted around the ‘Ukraine Unit’ in Chorley (along with Fr Marsden of St. Mary’s Church, Chorley), the Bishop spoke and paid thanks to the Volunteers.

He surprised us all by presenting the group with a Commendation of Appreciation from Bishop Yaroslaw, Sambir-Drohobytska Diocese of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church. Furthermore, he then presented us with the Ukrainian Medal for Volunteer Work, validated by the Administration of Drohobych.

These honours are a testament to the dedicated work of all the volunteers and the generosity of everyone that has donated time, money and possessions to support Ukraine. I also believe that these awards stand as a measure of how much our efforts must be helping those in need.
